KARACHI: Foundation stone laying ceremony of the construction of additional facilities, including class rooms and auditorium hall at the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law (SZABUL) was held on July 25, 2017. Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Justice Ahmed Ali M. Shaikh was the Chief Guest of the ceremony.
The Chief Justice on this occasion advised the law students, who are the lawyers and judges of the future to remember that although this profession has a big name and money but ‘service’ should be their basic motto of this field. He said they should keep in mind that nobody comes to the court with pleasure. ‘There are two categories of people; one who are habitual in contesting false cases and the other who are compelled to come here. And my request is that please do not ever compromise on principles and never exploit the compelled people. You are bound to provide justice to the people, at any cost’.
He said, “I congratulate Justice Qazi Khalid Ali, the founding Vice Chancellor of SZABUL who has established such a good organization where poor and rich, both (types of) students are getting same education and facilities under one roof. I have discussed with many students of this university who were praising the efforts of Qazi Khalid for providing a lot of facilities here. People come and go, but the institutions remain there forever. For example, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan is not in this world, but his Aligarh University is recognized all over the world. A person’s role plays great importance in the construction of a nation, when he builds an educational institution and his name is remembered in history.
Chief Justice further said; “I salute all the retired judges serving here, teaching and non-teaching staff and (other) faculty members of the university whose tireless efforts in a very short span of time have made this university very popular all over the country. I hope the time will come when students of our country would prefer this university, instead of getting education in England”.
Earlier, former Justice Qazi Khalid Ali, the founding VC of SZABUL, in his welcome address said, “In the short span of time, this law university has made tremendous success in every field. The existing building which has 30,000 square feet covered area is insufficient to facilitate and accommodate the increasing number of students. Chief Minister Sindh Mr. Murad Ali Shah has approved the construction of additional facilities at 20,000 square feet which will comprise 10 classrooms, indoor games, offices, 350 persons capacity auditorium. The estimated cost of this project is 94 million rupees and it will be completed in two-year time.
A large number of senior lawyers and judges and professional from law fertility were present at this ceremony.
