KARACHI: In connection with Quaid Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s birthday, Pakistan Youthful Intellectual Forum organised an event with the theme, ‘Jinnahism: Our Core Ideology’, to pay tribute to our country’s founding father and a great leader, on December 25th, here, at a local club. Prominent TV anchor Dr. Amir Liaquat Hussain and famous designer Yousuf Bashir Qureshi’s speeches were the highlights of the event.
Yousuf Bashir Qureshi, Fashion Icon who has designed clothing of famous Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, commenting on the clothing of Quaid-e-Azam said, “Our Quaid did elegant and graceful clothing. When he changed his style of clothing from Western to Eastern, he started wearing a beautiful cap (Jinnah Cap) and magnificent Sherwanis but he did not wear Pajamas, the reason was not that he did not like it but all it was not the dress of all Muslims community and he wanted to unite the people”.
He advised the youths to dress clean, fragrant, graceful and elegant clothes and believe in themselves. “You are the most beautiful creation of Almighty”.
Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain, at this occasion, said, the Quaid-e-Azam speech on 11 August 1947 was eliminated in which he explained the real objective of the creation of Pakistan. Two-nation theory does not mean that Muslim is one nation and Hindu is other, but it means that Muslims are one nation and people of rest of other religions are other. Hindu, Christian, Parsi, Jewish are free to go to places of their worships and live freely. He urged to protect the worship places of people of other religions.
He said Christian community had an important role in the independence of Pakistan (they were also in forces). Punjab was included in Pakistan, due to Christian community, as at that time, it was the Christian legislative speaker who gave his vote in favour of Pakistan and to make Punjab part of our country.
Sir Agha Khan was the President of All India Muslim League and today in Pakistan, the Aga Khani community is not safe. There worship places are under attack.
Dr. Aamir stated emotionally, “The Quaid’s Two-nation theory did not fail, (with the creation of Bangladesh), but Betrayal was won and Loyalty was lost”.
Mirza Ikhtiar Baig said ‘we have not been able to form Pakistan in accordance with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam), as unfortunately we had not been able to find the great leadership and after Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto hanging, we have not been able to find true visionary leadership of international stature’.
The other speakers who paid their rich tribute tothe great Quaid at the event included Mohammad Ali Shahaki- famous singer, Walid Fulara- Co-founder of Youth Intellectual Forum, Faisal Kazi -TV actor, Sidra Khan, Dr. Shahida Rehmani, Dr. Umair Haroon and other distinguished guests.
